New Years Image - Skye Malone BlogHappy New Year Everyone!

How was your holiday? Any good stories to share? Any new year’s resolutions underway?

So, back at the beginning of 2014, I wrote a blog post with my goals for that year, and now that 2015 has rolled around, I’ve been thinking a lot about that post and how the year has gone. Some things worked out. Some things got pushed back. But on the whole, I wanted to share with you where things stand and what’s in the works for this coming year.

2014 In Review

  • The Awakened Fate Series

Status: Going well. The fourth and fifth books of the series are scheduled for release in the spring, though I don’t have a final date for those yet. The story has gotten SO MUCH BIGGER than I expected, however, which means there are many surprises coming in relation to the Awakened Fate series in 2015. I’ll have more on this in the coming months, and if you want to be sure to hear about it all, your best bet is to sign up for my blog mailing list or my new release mailing list.

  • The ‘Standalone Fairy-tale Retelling’

Status: Still forthcoming. The quotes in that title are there for a reason, however. This one is still in the works, but like the Awakened Fate series, the story grew. There’s very little chance this one will be a standalone book now. It’s just too much fun to write and there’s too much story to jam into one novel. It also isn’t going to be strictly a fairy-tale retelling either (again with the story growing and changing from what I originally had envisioned). But as a result of all that, I don’t have a prospective date on when it will be released yet.

  • The Christmas Novella

Status: Taken by mermaids. I’d planned to write a standalone Christmas novella this past year, but right about the point when I sat down to work on it, Ina came to me with this wonderful story for herself that was just too much fun to put off. Thus, the time that would have gone to writing a holiday story quite happily went to Abide (even if Abide isn’t remotely a holiday story).

And for 2015…

2014 is bleeding into the new year, so my goals are a little bit less… shall we say defined?… than they were in January of last year. Here’s what I’ve got in the works, though.

  • Finish the Awakened Fate Series

This is my primary goal. Get the Awakened Fate series into your hands because I cannot WAIT for you to read it. Like I said above, I’ll have more on this in the coming months. If you want to keep up-to-date on it, though, the best plan is to sign up for my blog mailing list or my new release mailing list, where I’ll be sending out announcements when the books are released.

  • Super-Secret Projects Abound

    Like. Seriously.

For this coming year, there are several projects in the works. I’m not going to talk much about them yet, only because they’re still in the planning stages, which means anything is possible. Characters might change, genders might change, supernatural creatures might change… you name it. But they’re going to be paranormal romance, one project is young adult, and the rest are most likely new adult. I hope to have the first of these projects released by mid-2015, so I plan to share more about them as the months go on.

  • New Blog Additions

Last year, I started something on my blog for my other author identity, Megan Joel Peterson. I blogged about abandoned buildings. Photos mostly, with a bit of history when I could find it. And here’s the thing: I loved it. Abandoned places fascinate me. They turn up in my books quite a bit too (The Children and the Blood trilogy has a whole slew of them, and future projects will have their fair share as well). But between the crazy year and managing two blogs, I couldn’t keep up with those posts.

So for 2015, I’m moving those posts over here. I’m aiming for one a month, with the first to come in January. There will also be continued spotlights of fantasy and paranormal romance books on the blog, so keep an eye out for all that in the coming weeks!

So that’s my year-in-review and my update on goals for 2015. How about you? What do you have planned for this year? I’d love to hear from you in the comments!
